CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

All of our customer service representatives are provided with basic training designed to provide a working knowledge of our overall organization. Once team members have completed the basic training, they are provided with the opportunity to contribute their skills and talents to one or more of the following specialty areas. Wages start at $13.00.

Qualifications: Outgoing, reliable, organized, hard working, assertive, motivated, helpful, friendly, and patient. The ability to work quickly and calmly in a sometimes fast-paced environment is helpful.

Entry Area: Monitor assigned area and assist patrons with questions. Verify student, member, and guest ID's for access to facilities, programs, and services. Take payment for program and entry fees. Assist with miscellaneous customer service related tasks and enforcement of building regulations. Cash handling experience useful but not required.

Office Area: Monitor assigned area and assist patrons with questions. Verify student, member, and guest ID's for registration and access to facilities, programs, and services. Take payment for program and entry fees. Assist with data entry and other customer service related projects. Cash handling experience useful but not required.

Pro Shop Area: Monitor assigned area and assist patrons with questions. Take payment for court fees and pro shop items. Monitor equipment and towel check out. Handle court reservations and enforcement of court regulations. Assist with miscellaneous customer service related tasks. Cash handling experience useful but not required.

Exercise Area: Monitor and maintain a clean and orderly workout environment through thorough cleaning and organization of weights, cardiovascular equipment and stretching areas. Supervise exercise areas and perform facility rounds to ensure proper action is taken to keep areas neat, clean, and safe.
 

LIFEGUARD

The Norris Aquatics Center is looking for individuals that hold the following current certifications: Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Wages start at $13.25.

Qualifications: Reliable and self-motivated. The ability to stay focused in both monotonous and fast-paced environments. American Red Cross lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and first aid certifications required.

SWIM INSTRUCTOR

The Norris Aquatics Center is looking for individuals to conduct swimming lessons for children of various age groups and skill levels. Wages start at $13.75.

Qualifications: Reliable, outgoing, friendly, and patient. Excellent communication and organization skills. Previous teaching experience preferred.


GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR

Design and deliver safe, effective multi-leveled opportunities for physical fitness development through the instruction of group exercise classes to the university community that are based on national standards, guidelines and position stands (ACSM, ACE).

Qualifications: Possess and maintain current national certification in group exercise. Possess and maintain a current, nationally recognized, CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal communication skills desired. Ability to work independently. Knowledge of standard practices in recreational sports. Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyles.

PERSONAL TRAINER

Provide comprehensive one-on-one or small group training; utilizing safe and effective exercises, with clearly defined guidelines and realistic goals based on national standards, guidelines and position stands (ACSM, NASM, ACE).

Qualifications: Possess and maintain a current, nationally recognized, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. Possess and maintain a current, NCCA accredited personal training certification. Leadership and supervisory abilities. Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm. Excellent organizational skills. Written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently. Knowledge of standard practices in recreational sports. Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyles.

MARKETING & DESIGN

We're always looking to for creative and hardworking students. Students will play a vital role assisting in the communication of our recreational opportunities and messaging that supports positive lifestyle choices. This hands-on experience will allow for students to develop and execute marketing campaigns, create original content, as well as various other professional development opportunities.

Applicants must be willing to work 6-10 hours per week, including possible weekends. Certain positions require the submission of work samples (*) during the application process. Wages start at $13.00. Click the position title below to apply!


Communications Manager (Not hiring at this time)
  • Knowledge of social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook) and social media management platforms (Hootsuite, TweetDeck)
  • Develop and execute a year-long marketing plan incorporating all areas of Northwestern Recreation
  • Post regular social media content that engages students, faculty and staff, and community members
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of online marketing and a good understanding of major marketing channels
  • Write engaging articles for the department website
  • Other duties as assigned

Graphic Designer* (Not hiring at this time)
  • Design print and digital materials utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Manage and prioritize effectively to ensure all marketing requests are completed on time
  • Brainstorm and develop marketing campaigns in collaboration with Northwestern Recreation students and professional staff members
  • Can demonstrate an ability to develop effective designs
  • Adhere to branding and style guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

Multimedia Manager* (Not hiring at this time)
  • Comfortable utilizing a DSLR camera and other photography equipment
  • Photograph and film various Northwestern Recreation programs and events
  • Sort and edit photos utilizing various Adobe Creative Cloud software programs (Photoshop, Lightroom)
  • Create promotional videos utilizing various Apple and Adobe Creative Cloud software programs (iMovie, Premiere)
  • Develop and maintain database of all photos and videos
  • Other duties as assigned
